“People can't swallow that a woman could travel 97 miles of unforgiving wilderness, let alone with a babe in tow and another on the way. But she was dead set on those children surviving.” Colorado Territory, 1869.
Filmed in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, What She Carried is a period drama that explores the enduring love, tenacity, and strength of motherhood.
Our Story
In March of 2020, the live theatre industry crumbled as Covid spread its tentacles into each city and household. Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT) is a nationally recognized professional theatre serving over 20,000 patrons each summer season. After CRT was forced to cancel its 55th season because of the pandemic, the leadership pivoted from live performance to film. What She Carried became an allegory for the death of that summer season and the people we lost to the pandemic, as well as the new life that inevitably brings hope.
News
